Antique oak officer’s travel desk

This antique travel desk was made around 1850 from oak with an inlay of ebony. During the reign of George III (1760-1820), luxurious campaign furniture was almost exclusively made for the wealthiest officers of the upper class. Not long after, it was not only merchant and army officers who purchased such high-quality furniture, but also sailors and families emigrating to start a new life elsewhere.
